Q: How much does it cost?

A: Nothing! This is a free poker league- you are not required to pay any buy-in or membership fees. There is, however, the possibility to win cash prizes and accumulate points each night; with enough points, you could be invited to larger tournaments with even bigger rewards!

Q: What is the structure of the nightly tournaments?

A: There will be 9 person sit n' go's going on throughout the night, all games being No Limit Texas Hold'em. There are nine members to a table, and play will commence until a single player is left. If you're knocked out early in the first tournament, you may sit at another table and play again once it fills! Once two or three players are left, they may 'chop' the points, and divide them evenly. For each table, points will be awarded as follows:

1st: 100 points
2nd: 45 points
3rd: 20 points

Near the end of the evening, the tournament manager will announce the time of the final table. The top nine players with the highest accumulated points from that night will then compete in the Nightly Final Table for the following:

1st: $75 cash + 100 points
2nd: $25 cash + 45 points
3rd: 20 points

In the event that two players have equivalent scores, and are tied for 9th place- the final table will start with alternates. High card will determine which player(s) will be on the alternate list, and the tournament may start with two tables- instead of one. Any player on the alternate list for the final table must wait until a seat opens for them. Once a position is free and they are seated, they will begin play with the standard starting chip stack.

Q: How do the points work?

A: Every night the tournament manager will keep track of members' total tallied points- these points will then be recorded weekly onto the website. A top percentage of pointholders from the league will be invited to the VPL Tournament of Champions (multi-table format), where there will be even bigger prizes to be won. The top point holder after each 4 month season may also receive prizes such as VPL gear, Chip sets, Bar/Restaurant vouchers etc. Once the VPL Tournament of Champions winner has been crowned, all points will be set to zero. Date and time of the Regional tournament will be announced and posted on the website.

Q: I bought a drink/food and I received a ticket- what's it for?

A: To thank our members for support the venues by purchasing food and drinks, players will receive one ticket for every purchase made. Each of these tickets is worth 5 points toward your nightly and overall score (with a maximum of 5 tickets each night).

Q: What if I want to play for money?

A: This is Las Vegas, there are tons of places where you can lose money! It is illegal for Vegas Poker League to host tournaments where money or other items of value are risked, so we cannot allow wagering of any kind. If you are found to be gambling during a VPL event, you will be asked to leave.

Q: What is the Tournament of Champions?

The Tournament of Champions (TOC) is an exclusive event where top players of the VPL season play to compete for the TOC Season Championship Title, along with BIG prizes! This tournament takes place every 4 to 6 months, and only members who qualify with minimum points-totals are invited.
